Child Has Headache And Nosebleed. Taking Antibiotics. Cause?

My daughter has been experiencing headaches in the center of her hear between her eyebrows. She has also been experiencing 3-4 nosebleeds a day, quite heavy the first few day. The last two days she has had two nosebleeds per day. Any ideas what this could be. Saw the Dr. and she is on anti-biotics. He has suggested an ear nose throat specialist, however, it will probably be at least a month until we get in. Any ideas?

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Little's area is very sensitive and Causes of nose bleeds are,
sinusitis leading to dryness of nasal mucosa.
Frequent nose picking.
Trauma.
Bleeding disorder.

I suggest you to apply cold compresses over nose and pinch nostrils for 5 minutes in case of bleeding.
Put liquid paraffin drops in both nostrils.
Child should not scratch nose .

Give her plenty of fluids.
In case symptoms persist get her examined by ENT specialist.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.

Hi Csotola,
Thanks for writing your query.

It will be helpful if you mention the age of your daughter.

After reading your post, it seems that your daughter is having some pathology in nose which can be nasal polyp associated with sinus infection.
Other cause can be increase in blood pressure.

Your doctor is correct in referring her to an ENT specialist for clinical examination and to confirm the diagnosis.

You should also have an X-Ray PNS in the meantime.

Nasal packing with a vasoconstrictor should be done under medical supervision to control the nasal bleeding.

Also instruct your daughter to avoid fingering her nose as it is a common cause of nasal bleeding.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.

Pediatrician Dr. Himanshi Kashyap's  Response
Hi,
Nose bleeds in children happen usually because of dry mucosa which they pick on with finger nails. However since in your child the nosebleeds is going on for few days one will have to rule out issues related to the nose like some boil or a polyp in the nose.If the nose is normal then issues related to the blood like low platelet count or abnormality of platelet function will have to looked into.
Bye
Take Care
