General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello dear ,
thanks for your query at health care magic,
typhoid fever is mainly caused by two organisms they are salmonella typhi and salmonella paratyphi and there are sub groups in paratyphi as A and B .
WIDAL TEST is done to test for these organisms.
titres will indicate amount of infection in body.
but these titre level change according to lacality you live in and also on lab method followed. generally titres above 1: 80 or 1:160 considered tobe positive for typhoid.
widal test has importance when it is repeated and values are increasing in next test.
so if fever is not controlled go for repeat test if titres are increasing use antibiotics for typhoid fever.
thank you.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
widal test is positive if TO tire is more than 1:160 in active infection or if Th titre is more than 1:160 in past infection or in immunised individual.

He may be having some other focus of infection.
Continue with medication as advised by your doctor
Give plenty of fluids and soft bland diet so as to maintain hydration and nutrition.
Maintain proper hygiene.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
