Child Has Ear Drainage. Had Ear Tubes Put In, Removed Adenoid Glands. Ear Infection?

my son had ear tubes put in and his adenoid glands taken out Wednesday...He has drainage now. One ear looks like normal, I think...But the other one has a mucus like drainage coming out. Almost snot consistancy . Maybe it was an ear infection that he had previous to the surgery?? Ive called the doctor and they have yet to call me back. Now just getting an idea to ease my mind. Thanks in advance

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Ear tubes are placed when there is fluid in the middle ear. The fluid drains out and may continue to do so for some time till healing takes place. Nevertheless, it is always better to consult the doctor who has operated so that he is aware of the situation.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.

Regards,

RKK
