Child Has Diaper Rash, Tends To Drag Herself On The Floor, Keeps Itching Her Bottom. Suggestive Remedy?
my two year old daughter got a diaper rash over night 24 hours ago and keeps trying to drag her bottom on the floor like a dog and put her hand back there and itch her bottom. The rash is pretty bad and i have been putting desiten on it and trying to let it air out during the day. have you seen anything like this before
It seems you have been using really tight diapers for your baby. You should buy diapers that are a little loose. Note the diaper size while buying it. Try to keep your baby on a clean towel without diapers whenever possible. You should keep the affected area clean and dry. You can apply miconazole or clotrimazole cream in the area affected, it will give relieve. You can mix a little ointment with Johnson's baby lotion to keep the oitment mild as your baby has sensitive skin. ( apply a little do not overdo it )
Keeping the nappy area moist results in growth of a fungus called candida that causing itching and discomfort. It is better to use highly absorbent diapers. Change diapers in time. Do not let the baby stay moist. Wash your hands after you change the diapers so that you do not infect the baby.
Nappy rash goes away in 2-3 days. If still your baby takes the hands near the bottom, it can be due to the pin-worms. Visit a child specialist, let the baby get clinically examined and get treated.( watch your baby carefully ) Hhave a good day, take care.
Hi
The cream you are using contains zinc oxide and some smoothening substances. You are correct in exposing the baby"s bottom to air and kept the area dry.as you have mentioned that it came all of a sudden, you have to ruleout candidiasis(fungal infection for which there is different treatment).
For itching you have to give antihistamine syrup to the baby as scratching will delay healing. All the best
If the diapers are not changed as frequently as needed this may occur.till the rash subsides better not to use diaper and consult paediatrician who can prescribe medicines and try to keep the area dry.
