Child Has Cold, Cough, Vomiting. Taken Montair LC. How Long To Continue Medicine?
Hello Doctor, My son is now 3Years 2 months. He used to have cold and cough regularly once in two months along with vomiting due to difficulties in breathing . vomiting mainly while sleeping at night or day time. and will not be able to have food as normal during that time. This started when he was around 2 Years. So our doctor advised to take Montair LC kid for 3months continuously (5ml at night). this is the second month. Still continuing. But in between 4 days we were out of Bangalore and couldn t give that medicine. So immediately after one week again the problem started and he is now having cough and vomiting due to breathing problem,I have started giving nebulization . Now my concern is how long we need to continue this medicine. Also is there any side effect for the same? Even if you stop this after 6 months/1Year , the possibility for allergic symptoms will increase or do we need to continue this life long?

It is safe and useful in preventing the frequent allegic episodes.
Continue nebulization for cough and rapid breathing in prescribed dose.

you can continue montair lc there are very little side effects from this drug , it will control lot of allergic symptoms
you may not be requiring this medication life long because most of the children will be normal after 5 years where there immunity increase and allergic reaction decreases.

There is no need of giving it life long. Try to identify what he is allergic to and try to avoid it. Most of time it is dust and dust mites, and most commonly if will be the air pollution and pillow cover and best sheets. Change his pillow covers everyday, wash his clothes, pillow cover and bed sheets in hot water. Give him steam inhalation everyday apart from giving Montair LC. Build up his immunity by including Vitamin C in diet- Chyawanprash which contains Indian Gooseberry which is richest source of Vitamin C will definitely help. I have tried it in many children and it has definitely help, after 1-2 years the drugs can be slowly stopped.
