Child Had Vomitting, Large Bowel Movement, Lack Of Appetitie. Gave Zofran. Had BM Earlier. What Is Wrong, How To Treat?

My three year old vomited two weeks ago vomited one large emesis and after vomiting acted fine all day. A few days later she had a very nasty "humus" colored extremely soft (almost hummus consistency) large bowel movement, extremely stinky. This past Wednesday, she vomited again, acting fine all day, then vomited again at night (popped a fever 102 F). Acted normal Thursday, Friday, Saturday with the exception of lack of appetite before vomiting (extremely hungry but can not tolerate food after vomiting). Sunday morning, she woke up started breakfast said she felt like she had to get sick, and vomited. Brought her to ER, no tests- attribute to viral or food intolerance, or constipation (she has not been regularly having bm as in past). Had LARGE bowel movement, again hummus color, consistency while in ER. Came home after Zofran dose, to another large BM and vomiting tonight. Terrible burping before she got sick tonight, and horrible gas now post vomit. I feel like there is something going on more than just viral. She does have Hx of burping. Any suggestions?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child seems having gastroenteritis which may be due to infection with a virus or bacteria.

Continue the medication as advised.

Give sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte, lemon water to prevent dehydration.

Monitor her hydration by activity, urine output, and skin turgor.

If vomitings are persistent, you can give an anti emetic like ondansetron with the doctor prescription.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
