Child Had Surgery For Adenoids And Tonsils Removal. Blood In Mucus While Coughing. Normal?

Hi, My son age 3.5 was operated for Tonsiles and Adinoids on April 10th. I was told that b/w 5 to 10th day little blood is normal in the mucus but today it has been 3 weeks and I saw a little dark red colored small clot while he was coughing. He still keeps in mouth open while sleeping although he is not snoring...but itches his nose and coughs occasionally...should I be worried?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

By now the bleeding should have stopped. In case it continues it shall be advisable to get his throat examined by the surgeon.

Post surgery it shall take some time for the habit of mouth breathing to go. Your son has to be encouraged to breathe from his nose and this shall reduce his habit of keeping the mouth open while sleeping.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
