Child Had Febrile Convulsion, Having Stomach Pain, Fever, Prescribed Zanocin. Whether I Can Give Him Zanocin?

My son had a febrile convulsion today. In morning he complained of having stomach pain and then develop some fever. I visted a doctor nearby and he prescribed Zanocin 100, Frisium 5, paracetamol . my questionis whenther I can give him Zanocin?? I have read somewhere that ofloxacin is neurotoxic. Please advice if I can give him Zanocin. Thanks and regards, Manisha

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Zancocin should be avoided in children. You may consult a paediatrician who can evaluate your sons condition and discuss necessary medications to be taken.
Ofloxacin may cause problems with bones, joints, and tissues around joints in children. Ofloxacin should not be given to children younger than 18 years of age. Talk to your child's doctor about the risks of giving ofloxacin to your child.
