Abdominal discomfort in the morning before school time is very common in this age group. What you need to do is to be sure that there is not any underlying disease and avoid spicy, fried, carbonated,junk foods. You can also avoid dairy product for few days it will help if there is any lactose intolerance. Support your child mentally and emotionally. These functional pain usually subsides in few months. If it is severe you may give some antispasmodic, laxative if any constipation or antacid for acidity. As far as cough and cold is concerned 6 to 8 episodes of cough and cold in a year is normal in a child if it is not requiring any admission in hospital. I hope this answers your query effectively.
