Child. Ultrasound Showed Moderate Pelvicalyceal Fullness In Both Kidneys. History Of Blood In Urine Treated With Antibiotics. No UTI. Advice
Hi Doctor my sons pediatrician just called and said his ultrasound showed moderate pelvicalyceal fullness in both kidneys he is 5 yrs old and about 5 months ago urinated some blood and they put him on antibiotics and did an ultrasound with the same conclusion at that time.He has not had a uti or any discomfort before that or since then. What do we do next
Though you have provided some information but I would like to have the detailed urine routine examination report and the complete ultrasound report giving the details of the renal size for me to give guidance. Blood in urine can be due to either a severe infection or an obstruction like stone or growth. The obstruction is probably causing the pelvicalyceal fullness of the kidneys in which case the obstruction is either in both the ureters of the urinary bladder obstructing both the ureteric openings. After reviewing the urine and ultrasound reports the doctor will suggest further investigations.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
