Child. Runny Nose, Difficulty Sleeping. No Much Help From Tminic Drops, Nasoclear Spray. Can Alerid Be Given?

My 17 month old suddenly developed runny nose around 9 today and has been struggling to try and sleep since the past 3 hours. I have given him 16 drops of tminic at about 1 am and nasoclear spray. But its 3 amm and yet he keeps getting up every 15 mins. He is refusing to lay down. I have also tried making him sleep in slight elevated position but that too helps only for a few mins. His nose is still very runny. Can I give him alerid right now?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

In the initial stages of the upper respiratory tract infection your son is bound to be more irritable. You can certainly give him Alerid but do not expect immediate results. I would suggest that you give him some decongestant/cough syrup which shall be more comfortable.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

For cold, Tmnic is sufficient and it is suggested to give thrice daily.

Alerid and Tmnic belongs to same group and this may lead to excessive drowsiness.

So continue only one drug in prescribed dose.

For nose block, you can put nasoclear nasal drops one or two into each nostril especially before feeding and sleeping.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
