Child. Periodic Pain In Stomach. Ultrasound Didn T Confirm Appendicitis. Reason?

My 10 year old son had pain in belly button area lasting about an hour. It went away but has come back now, 3 hours later and feels like he wants to vomit but can't. He had similar pain, but much more severe 5 months ago. We went to hospital. They suspected appendicitis, but ultrasound did not confirm. Has had it one other time about a week ago, but not lasting as long. What could it be? Should he be taken to the hospital?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

There are many reasons for pain abdomen in children and at different times there may be a different cause for his pain depending on the involvement of type of organ.

At present as he is having significant prolonged pain abdomen and associated with vomiting sensation it looking like an alarming problem.

He needs physical examination of his abdomen by a doctor and if required ultrasound abdomen and pelvis at present.

I advise you to consult his pediatrician as early as possible for the examination and the management of his pain abdomen.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
