Child. On And Off Fever, Continuously Throwing Up And Diarrhea. Super Red Face Before Vomiting. Serious?

My two year old has had intermittent fever and threw up all night long last night. Literally threw up every sip of gatorade etc that she was given overnight. She woke up acted a little better but havent been able to get her to drink as much as she should. Barely anything. She has thrown up two times today and had three diarrhea diapers... Right before she throws up her face turns super red like someone slapped her on cheeks. She has been laying around majority of day and I would like to know what signs to look for.... When should I take her to ER? I was trying to wait until urgent care opened in the morning since i have a two hundred dollar copay for the ER. WHEN DO I TAKE HER TO ER? Another child was recently sent home and hospitalized for dehydration with rotavirus and I am really worried

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

First vomiting should be controlled by antiemetics prescribed by your doctor.

Look for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.

If vomiting persist despite antiemetics intravenous fluids should be given.
