Child. Increasing Swelling Behind Ears Stretching To Neck, Severe Pain. No Help From Antibiotics. Advice

hi am jane nd my 4yr girl woke up one morning with a swelling behind the right ear and stretching to the neck,she was put on antibiotic for five days but there was a very slight improvement only to wake up on the fifth day with another swelling just below the same ear.taken back to the doc she was put on a stronger antibio for three days and today the third day she has two more swellings on the other ear and on the neck....she's in pain kindly advice

May be what your girl has is either



1 parotitis/ mumps if the swelling is single and just below the ear and can be bilateral


2 lymph nodes swelling

Wait for antibiotics and if house she will need some tests including biopsy.

Hi,thanq for your interest in HCM.According to the history given by you,it seems it may be lymphadenitis or cellulitis extending and so it is better to consult a Surgeon with appropriate supportive investigations to diagnose and treat her completely with out any sequelae.
