Child. Frequent Throwing Up. No Other Symptoms. History Of Separated Parents. Concerning?

My boyfriend has 3 young children that he has shared custody. My first concern with the oldest daughter who is 9, she throws up all the time, even when there really isnt any other symptoms. When shes at her moms, the mother informs the father of her throwing up. It doesnt happen as often at our house, but she misses a lot of school when she is with her mom due to vomiting. My second concern is over his youngest daughter age 5 who is constantly thirsty and always has to go to the bathroom. I teased her dad saying she just likes to see what all bathrooms look like but I'm concerned there may be something more to it.

Hello,

thanks for posting on HCM,

I do not think it is something serious but it is that she could be having some allergies (probably food) at the home where she throws up frequently. Another possibility is that she might be suffering from a psychological disorder and you might need to take her to a pediatric psychiatrist. I also suggest you see a gastroenterologist as she might be suffering from a more serious medical condition even though she is presenting with no other symptoms.
Well the youngest daughter is likely not having anything to worry about as she might just be having a habit of her own.

Hope this helps

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Coming to his oldest daughter, throwing may be due to gastro esophageal reflux, but it is uncommon around this age group.

The psychological causes for her vomitings also to be ruled out as she is throwing when she is with her mother and other times she is not throwing.

I advise you to consult the pediatrician along with the child to rule out the physical causes for her vomitings with examination and investigations.

Coming to the youngest child, excessive thirsty and frequent urination requires investigations to rule out diabetes mellitus and insipidus.

Her urine and blood should be tested for sugar and sugar levels.

Consult the pediatrician for the examination of both children.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
