Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Past few days I have had chest pain, varying from mild to making breathing painful. Also been coughing up some blood. Not sure if the two would be related?
Hi.. Chest pain with cough and presence of blood in the sputum are symptoms of lower respiratory infection. Its hard to guess the exact nature of the infection, severity or the extent of infections from this far without a physical examination. You will need to see a chest physician for physical examination. You will also need few blood test and a chest xray. I would suggest you to get these done as soon as possible. If you are on aspirin or any anticoagulant medications, you may have to avoid those. Report back with the reports and the chest physicians opinion.
