Chest Discomfort,low Grade Fever.Reason?

I am a chemo patient currently on topotecan. Last night I took a dose of miralax and I have not felt we ll all day. Slight chest discomfort and some anxiety. Also a low grade fever this evening which I gave most evenings anyway. Also have significant gas. Had a diverticulitis attack about a month, no current abdominal pain. Could I be allergic to miralax?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are having mostly GERD ( gastroesophageal reflux disease ).
You are on chemotherapy and these drugs are known to cause GERD. Anxiety is the added factor for worsening of GERD. And your symptoms like chest discomfort, nausea, gaseous feeling etc are suggestive of GERD more.
So better to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid hot and spicy food.
2. Avoid stress and tension.
3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
4. Start Proton pump inhibitors.
5. Go for walk after meals.
6. Keep 2 - 3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
