Welcome to HCM.it appears that you have Laryngo-Pharyngeal Reflux Disease(LPRD).This occurs when the upper sphincter of the oesophagus is lax ,there is prexisting GERD,the stomach contents rise upto the larynx and pharynx causing a husky voice, cough and throat irritation. You will need to avoid heavy meals, stay upright for 30 minutes after meals, avoid alcohol and smoking, voice overuse is to be avoided.Caffeine, chocolate, citrus fruits, mint, carbonated drinks, tomato based products and red wine need to be avoided.Drugs like PPIs(including omeprazole),prokinetic drugs,Sucralfate will help.Elevate the head end of the bed by 6=8 inches.Take dinner at least 3 hours before retiring. You will need a direct laryngoscopy and pH monitoring of the oesophagus to confirm the diagnosis.
