I have endometriosis and am on cerazette for the pain and bleeding. However I have missed approx 5 pills this month and continued to have unprotected sex. My period is usually on time if not early every month. I have always bled on cerazette. Its now been 6/7 days late. I have took pregnancy tests but they come back negative

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

You seem to have taken cerazette but missed 5 pills. Was it that you missed pills for 5 consecutive days or intermittently you missed a pill. It would be helpful to know the days when you missed the pills.

However with the above information, I can say that if you missed a pill you are not protected for the next 48 hours. So if you had unprotected sex within the next 48 hours after missing each pill, you will not be protected. The chances of pregnancy are difficult to predict as it depends upon the time of cycle when you missed it and so on.
However the chances of pregnancy decrease while on cerazette as it thickens the cervical mucus not allowing sperms to ascend. So some protection maybe there. Also cerazette may cause irregular periods along with stress and anxiety that also affect the cycles.

If the pregnancy has occurred late, the urine test will not come positive so soon. The best suggestion is do a urine test 3 weeks after the last episode of unprotected sex in that cycle or a blood test 15 days after the last episode. If pregnancy has occurred, this will give a positive result.

Meanwhile if there is no pregnancy, you will experience menses. If you continue to have absent menses and feel worried, do urine tests at not less than 7 days interval to detect pregnancy early using the first morning sample of urine.

Please do not worry as chances of pregnancy are not very high if sex has occurred more than 48 hrs after missing pills.

Hope this was helpful
