Cellulitis On The Lower Leg. Sore Turning Black Indicating Subcutaneous Necrosis. Biopsy Advised. Why?

My wife has developed cellulitus on her lower leg just below her knee on the shin area. The sore resembles a spider bite. The middle of the sore has turned black indicating subcutaneous necrosis.Doectors are treating her with vancomycin and clindamycin, however, she doesn't seem to be responding very well. the overall process has been going on about three weeks. They finally called in a surgeon to perform a biopsy, however, she is on a blood thinner and he wants to wait for 5-more day for her to be off the medicine. I am very worried.....James Lowe

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Vancomycin & clindamycin already taken, just due to eradicate infection without any culture & sensitivity test of blood.
Blood thinner are already on treatment line.
Biopsy has done , so in my opinion biopsy report will be negative.
Blood examination for sugar is essential so please get in it.
A S D ( Anti Septic Dressing) , anti inflammatory, antibiotics are the best treatment till biopsy report.
Good luck.
HAVE A NICE RECOVERY.
