Cause Of Child's Hiccups And Red Eyes?

my 20 months old has been diagonised with a viral infection, he had a fever which has gone after giving rectal paracetamol, but he is still lethargic, and today the eyes have turned red, he is getting hiccups at every try of feeding or drinking, what could be the cause of these hiccups and red eyes?

Red eyes is a symptom of viral infection.
hiccough with viral infection needs to be investigated for some chest infection also.
