Cannot Make A Fist And Simultaneously Bend Wrist. Serious?

I cannot make a fist and then bend my left wrist at the same time. It feels almost like a very sore muscle or a sprain , but I haven t done any kind of exercise that would cause it. I don t type much with that hand , though I do tend to hold or fold it close to my chest when I sleep. Is this a serious problem? This is the second time this has happened in a month.
