Please tell me if this normal or should I repeat the test or get an OGTT test done soon? Also,my Urine Routine says I have traces of Glucose. Please advise!

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
thanks for posting query to this forum,Gestational Diabetes is special clinical condition and your test needs to be repeated as you have taken only 50gm glucose this is not standard to do OGTT please take opinion of Endocrinologist.
Standard Glucose dose is 75 or 100 gm after taking 75 gm glucose samples are taken at intervals.
The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) measures the body's ability to use a type of sugar, called glucose.
You should take normal carbohydrate diet before the test.
Do not eat, drink, smoke, or exercise strenuously for at least 8 hours before your first blood sample is taken.
Two or three blood samples may be taken at hourly interval.
Fasting should be
1 hour after glucose
2 hour after glucose

Once you repeat proper OGTT then further action depends on result of test, even urine test can be repeated just to confirm that there is glucose in urine or not.
Please take care
Good Luck

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
The glucose tolerance test is used for the diagnosis of gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy). A pregnant woman has gestational diabetes when she has any two of the following:, a fasting plasma glucose of 92 mg/dl or more, a one hour glucose level of 180 mg/dl or more, or a two hour glucose level of 153 mg/dl, or more.
Since your blood sugar levels are 130mg/ dl after one hour,it is a normal report.
Traces of glucose in urine is a normal finding and is not a sign of diabetes, since many people have low renal threshold.
I hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

You should go for GTT

50 gram is not a standard to give...

Urine sugar appearing at this level of blood sugar means reduced renal threshold and NOT diabetes.-

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
