Can You Advise On The Half-life Of Venlaxafine And How Long Should I Stay On The Lowest Dose?
I am experiencing what appears to be SSRI/SNRI Discontinuation Syndrome. I was attempting to switch from Venlaxafine to Wellbutrin due to weight gain concerns. I tapered down the Venlaxafine dose for greater than 2 weeks but have been having increasing difficulty with symptoms and have been strictly on the Wellbutrin for over a week now. I am considering returning to the low dose Velnaxafine for a longer period of time. Can you advise on the half-life of Venlaxafine and how long I should stay on the lowest dose? Thank you!

Venlafaxine is most potent anti depressant and is referred as serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor ( SNRI).
Half life of this drug is on REGULAR RELEASE: 5 hours (time of peak :2.4 hour ) EXTENDED RELEASE 5+-2 hours(extended release5.5 hour)
It inhibits both both of these amines , does not interacts with cholinergic , adrenergicor histamine receptors or have sedative properties ( due to these reasons it has very low side effects).
Its side effects are ;
Nausea, sweating , anxiety , dizziness & impotence .
However these are very minor side effects in compare to benefits , so you can take it .
You can adjust with 25 mg minimum dosage but not mote than 375 mg / day .
So adjust as you like .
