Can Watermelon Be Eaten During Fasting Time Before A Blood Test?

I am having blood work done tomorrow morning and my physician has instructed me not to eat anything for twelve hours up to the time of the tests. They instructed me that i could have water and black coffee but my question is: can i have watermelon due to its high water content?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns. I would not recommend eating watermelon prior to your blood work. The watermelon has high sugar content and will interfere with the blood sugar test in your regular blood sugar testing. I recommend drinking water or black coffee only prior to your blood work
