Can Water Intake In Lungs After Swallowing Pool Water Cause Secondary Drowning?

Hi I swallowed a gulp of pool water about 4 hours ago. I choked on it I guess, and gasped for air .. once I caught my breath and I guess my airway was cleared I was able to talk normally. I read online some cases of secondary drowning. Is it possible that I got water in my lungs while gasping for air, and if I could drown later tonight when I go to bed from secondary drowning.

No, you won't get secondary drowning when you go to bed. Even if you did get a little water in your lungs, it was a small amount, and your body should have absorbed it out of your lungs by now. You have not had any symptoms since the initial choking. Secondary drowning is a reaction in the lungs that occurs after a near-drowning incident and you did not have that. So no need to worry. Hope this helps.
