Can Viral Infection Be The Cause Of Runny Nose, Cough And Fever?
My daughter is 2 years old and lately has had a viral infection causing runny nose, eyes, a chesty cough and a temperature. Today she has been much better but the two times she has had a bowel movement they have come out very light/grey in colour. I would like to know if this is any cause for concern? Thank you
Hi....you need not worry. This is quite common in recovering viral illness.
Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
