Can The Low Hair Density Be Due To Thyroid Hormone Imbalance?

Hi! 29 yo male, question about my hair and potential thyroid issue. I ve had very low hair density ever since I can remember. I remember my grandfather telling me I looked bald when I was 10 yo! It has always bothered me but since my sister and mother also had the same problem I never looked into it too much. Note that my brother s hair is relatively normal, perhaps a little bit low density. I can easily see my scalp through my hair and seems to be a little extra thin new my top left crown area. Not sure if my sides are any better than the rest of my head, but if I had to guess I would say the sides are a bit better. For the past few years i have began to suspect I may also have hypothyroidism. I am extremely sensitive to the cold, I sweat a lot and easily, I get tried throughout the day, I have poor memory, I think my skin seems thin, and my libido is pretty low. I also have Keratosis Paliaris which some people think could be tied to hypothyroidism. I have done some blood work and my GP refuses to send me to a endo based on them, but I know mild hypothyroidism may not show clinically but rather should be diagnosed symptomaticly. My question is if you think my low hair density is due to a life-long case of thyroid hormone imbalance or if I was simply born with less hair. I ll add that I have a rather large head and I read that that might spread out my follicles resulting in lower density. It is bothering me a bit more now because my hair line is also starting to recede a bit. Please let me know!

helo,
hair loss in male around 30 yrs of age is usually androgen associated hair loss. The typicall distribuition you are mentioning id pathagnomic of androgenic hair loss.Androgenic hair fall is related to the male sex hormone, testosterone.Hypothyroidism is a known cause of hair loss, but if your initial thyroid evalvuation is normal, may be you can repeat the test after 6mts in empty stomach.Do not try hair treetment oils at this point cause most of it has minoxidil a drug which can decrease libido further
