Can The Heart Burn Be Due To Switching Of Nexium To Prodaxa?

I am taking prodaxa and have been taking nexium for two years - they recently switched my nexium for a generic and now have developed severe heartburn. Don t know if this is because of switching nexium or a side effect of prodaxa - I started using tums this weekend since I can t talk to a doctor till Monday Any thoughts/advice. I have been using my blood thinner for aprox. 2 months. Thanks

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pradaxa can be associated with heart burn but it is also possible that the switch to the generic nexium may also be playing a part.

It may be combination of the 2 factors. You may want to add another agent such as pepcid to see if this helps.
There would be no interaction between the 3 medications.

Also look at the diet to see if any changes can be made that may help.

I hope this helps
