Can The 80% Narrowing Of Arteries Be Reversed With A Healthy Hear Diet?

Even with 3 arteries 80% narrowed and one 90% as determined by the angiogram, can one still reverse this by way of special heart-healthy diet, magnesium, Vitamin D (2000mg), Vitamin K, and Fish Oil, and exercise, instead of having bypass surgery.....as Dr s. Steven Masley, Steven Nissen, and Marc Gillinov are strongly reccommending in their books, HEART 411 and 30 DAY HEART TUNE-UP?

Hello,
I will not disagree with the professional opinion of your own cardiologist. I know that studies have shown a reversal using a combination of lifestyle changes, dietary changes and the addition of omega-3 fatty acids. You could follow the TLC or Total Lifestyle Change meal plan, add water soluble fibers (from lentils, oats, skins of fruits), exercise as permitted by your doctor. I must mention that some plaques are caused by calcium as well as lipids so be cautious with vitamin D and calcium. I have not read these two specific books. I am uncomfortable agreeing with your approach unless you do it along with your cardiologist and frequent monitoring. With heart problems, exercise may "kill" you before it helps you if you are not cleared by doctor and follow medical guidelines specifically for your level of blockage and cardiac capability. My best wishes to you.
