Can Switching From Atorvastatin To Vytorin Cause Tenderness In Abdomen And Ribs?

I have tenderness in the upper abdomen under my lowest front rib which radiates to the side and to a lower rib in my back. I feel tired and even weak and sometimes a bit disoriented. About a month ago I had to switch from 80mg of Vitorin to atorvastatin 80mg. I am female, 66, 5 6 142 lb.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Atorvastatin and Vytorin belong to the same group of drugs called 'statins'.
They help in reducing the bad cholesterol in blood and keeps total cholesterol level under check.
Vytorin contains a combination of ezetimibe and simvastatin. Ezetimibe reduces the quantity of cholesterol absorbed by the body.
Body aches or pain, muscle stiffness, difficulty in breathing, unusual tiredness or weakness are some of the side effects that could be encountered with its use.
Since 'pancreatitis' is one of the associated complications with the use of Vytorin, and you are having some of the symptoms related to it, it would be better to get the following investigations done and seek Physician's advise in this regard.
1. Serum Amylase level.
2. Serum Lipase level.
3. Ultrasound abdomen.
