Can Sofradex Ear Drops Be Used For Perforated Eardrum?

Dear doctor

I have an ongoing condition where my ears clog up with excessive wax and become a bit infected causing mild sporadic deafness. I went to my doctor and she prescribed sofradex ear drops. I told her that I have a perforated eardrum and she said it was fine to use but im not too sure. Can you offer your opinion?

Hi,I personally don't prescribe safrodex in perforated ear drum cases as it contains aminoglycoside, framycetin its ototoxic at higher doses, but some ent doctor use it causiously to treat infection, and discontinue after infection is over,
If you get any of these symptoms like vertigo, ringing sensation or hearing loss you should immedielty stop drug and report to your treating doctor,
Hope this information helps.
