Can Smoking Cause Breathing Problems In Epiglottis And Trachea?

31 Male, former smoker from ages 21-27. Over the last couple of years I get pain during exercise/heavy breathing somewhere between the epiglottis and trachea. Pain increases with intensity. No troubles swallowing and I wouldn't consider it a sore throat. Previously diagnosed w/ reactive airway/asthma. The pain never presented until the last couple of years. Any ideas what the possible problems may be?

Hi welcome to health care magic.....

You have smoking habit , so your lung might be affected ....
Here idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has to be ruled out ....
Smoking also lead chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ....
For which pulmonary function test by spirometry done....
It will able to diagnose your case as well assess severity....
You might given bronchodilator or steroid depending on cause ...

Also investigate with bp checking , stress test and ECG as smoking can lead coronary artery disease.

Hope your concern solved.

Take care.
