Can Schmorl's Nodes And Also Calcification Of The Ligament TH9-11 Is A Serious Problem?

Hi, I have just had a spinal xray which has discovered schmorl's nodes and also calcification of the ligament TH9-11. Is this serious or premature? I am 43. I participated in powerlifting, without any acute injury from age 20-39. Has this hurt me chronically?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

According to the reports schmorl's nodes and ligament calcification are age related findings. It is not serious at all. This doesn't require any treatment.
Schmorl's nodes are due to herniation of inter vertebral disc into vertebral body and it is a benign finding. It is also important to see for other signs of degenerative changes. You can go for MRI of Spine.
Hope i have answered your query.

Take Care
