Can Red Spots On Legs In A Cocaine User Refer To Purpura?
Yes, but is this going to cost me money. I have small red blood vessel spots on my legs after a long period of cocaine use. I've been reading about the purpura, but I don't have that. I need to know what cocaine use is doing to my skin. I can see it looks dried up and sun damaged but I never get any sun, red spots and crinkley texture. Help me understand, as it will help me quit. Miss A
Hello, Cocaine causes multiple skin disorders. the following are the cocaine effects on skin. 1. Schonlein-Henoch vasculitis - A systemic vasculitis that causes the blood vessels in the skin to become inflamed, causing red spots. When the blood vessels in the skin get inflamed, they can bleed, causing a rash that is called purpura. 2. Pseudovasculitis - false inflammation of the blood vessels 3. Urticarial vasculitis - hive formation 4. Necrotizing vasculitis - blood vessels are destroyed 5. Blackened hyperkeratotic palms (“crack hands”) - horny layer of the skin is blackened
Thus it is better to stop cocaine use. As it affects all most all the organs in the body. Please consult a Psychiatrist and withdraw cocaine as per his advice.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
