Can Normal Delivery Be Harmful For The Fetus?

I m 37 weeks pregnant with my first child. We went for an ultra sound and they found out that there s a double loop around the baby s neck. All other things are normal though, (weight, amn. fluid, position of the baby, etc.) I spoke to my Dr. after the scan and she said that she s not ready to take the risk of a vaginal delivery. She said to take a second ultra sound at 38 weeks and if the double loop is still there, she plans to have the surgery right away. Now my question is, what if we monitor baby s heart rate and try to go for a normal delivery and if they see signs of baby in distress, then they can intervene

I understand your concern.
The situation of double cord loop around baby's neck needs to be taken care of with utmost care. I feel what your doctor says is right.
T-If a normal delivery is attempted with cord loops around neck,with labor pains set up-the baby being pushed down with each pain & the cord loops may get tightened -to suffocate baby.....
Though there is chance that the loops may get corrected on it's own ,and the next sonography confirms it you may have a chance to deliver normally.
But in cas3e the loops persist, baby weight & maturity are up to the mark, it's serviceable to go for planned Cesarian
