Hi,
I can understand your concern for redness and itching in face and neck.

Minoxidil in lotion form can be used to improve hair growth. Minoxidil in general at low concentration do not cause any side effect and is very safe drug to be used. But if used in higher concentration it can lead to contact sensitivity. As you are using 5% lotion so it can be a potential agent to cause irritation, redness and itching

You should meet your treating dermatologist and report this problem. For the time being period stop minoxidil for dew days. Apply mometasone or fluticasone cream over the affected area and take loratadine for two times.

Take care.

Hi. thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Minoxidil can cause irritation sometimes specially because the solution it comes in has alcohol base which also causes dryness and irritation.

I would advice that you discontinue it for a week and let the irritation subside Or you can use an OTC steroid like cortisone to help it resolve faster.

Restart with Minoxidil Foam (Tugain comes in a foam too) after a week. It would be better since it has less chances of irritation owing to much lower alcohol content as compared to solution form of minoxidil.

You can also decrease the frequency of it: Use it once daily instead of twice daily since you are basically using it for maintainance of hair regrowth after transplantation.

take care
