Can Meth Usage Lead To Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Hi my boyfriend is a meth user, is it possible for me to get a vaginal yeast infection from having unprotected sex with him when meth is in his system. I just found out he smokes meth and are taking to steps to help him. I have already gone to the doctor and gotten the yeast infection cleared up so its not an STD.

Hello and thanks for your query.

I understand that you are concerned whether your boyfriend's meth usage could be related to your vaginal yeast infection. Let me clarify this saying that your boyfriend habit of smoking meth CANNOT BE the cause for your vaginal yeast infection.

Vaginal yeast infection, also known as Candidiasis is caused due to a fungal infection. It is relatively common but has nothing to do with meth usage. The treatment is with antifungal medication.

The anti-fungal medication is usually given in the form of vaginal suppositories - which have to be inserted into the vagina. It is important that you complete the full course of treatment because there is a high chance of relapse with incomplete treatment.

Please remember to always practice safe and protected sex, in order to avoid the risk of pregnancy and STDs.
