Hi. It is possible that the metal piece scraped the posterior portion (back part) of your voice box as it entered into your food pipe when you tried to swallow it.

Injury to your throat will present in the same manner as something stuck in the throat. The body cannot differentiate between these two feelings. If the endoscopy did not find the metallic piece than it is probably not there. If you can swallow with a bit of pain and are able to drink fluids then you probably do not have anything stuck in your throat or esophagus. If you cannot even swallow your saliva and it is so painful that you cannot move your neck then that can be suggestive of a stuck metallic piece in your esophagus.

I would suggest that you give your esophagus and throat some time to heal and you should be fine in a day or two. Slowly resume your meals and fluids. If you develop fever and pain in your chest or between your shoulder blades then you will need to visit the hospital for management of the infection.

If you still think strongly that it is stuck in your esophagus then get an X Ray done. The metallic object will be clearly visible on X Ray and it will answer everything.

Hope you recover soon.
