HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
There are a number of different reasons for delayed or irregular period.
Some of these are: (1) abnormal levels of
thyroid hormone- this can be checked by blood tests
(2)
pregnancy - home pregnancy tests can normally determine this by day 11 to 14 after conception
(3) emotional stress
(4)inadequate diet
(5)high levels of the
prolactin hormone- this can be detected by blood tests
(6)physical illness or stress
(7)extreme exercise or physical activity
(8)polycystic ovarian syndrome- this is a condition that is diagnosed when at least 2 of the following are present: (a) cysts on the ovaries-seen on
ultrasound (b) irregular or delayed periods (c) signs or symptoms of increased levels of male hormones such as abnormal hair growth, acne, high blood
testosterone levels
Your doctor would assess you with both examination and the tests suggested to find out the cause.
I hope this helps
