Can Long Term Use Of Forteo Cause Side Effects?
Looking for any long term effects after Useing Forteo for18 month of treatment . 66 yr. old female paraplegic Times 50 yrs broken Tib. Fib. Healed with contribution of Forteo and calcium an Vit.D. Over the last 2 yrs. I have developed a number of joint an bone pains every where. I have some swelling and sharp pain in hands With the begin of disfiguring. Are there long term effects to pushing bone development. C. Abraham

Used in the treatment of Post menopausal osteoporosis,
Forteo (Teriperatide) can cause nausea, joint aches, pain, leg cramps, and injection site reactions including injection site pain, swelling and bruising. The long term side effects include a decrease in blood pressure when you change positions. Although rare but there's also a possibility of serious side effect like development of a bone cancer called osteosarcoma is also reported on long term use of Forteo.
