Can Kidney Stones Cause Back Pain?

hello? I am a 23 year old male, woke up with a very sharp pain in my lower right side of my back this morning, went to the urgent care and the doctor believes I may have a kidney stone. when will I know if I should go to the emergency room or continue to take the medications prescribed and let it pass?

You will need CT scan of the kidneys to confirm it is a kidney stone or not. If the stone is small then it can pass by its own, If large then need intervention in the form of surgery.
