Can Janumet Cause Dizziness And Low Blood Sugar Levels?

Good Evening Doctor Shankdhar,

I was having high diabeties, fasting used to be 160+, then I have seen doctor in Appolo Hospital, Delhi, he prescribed Glycomet SR 1 gm * 2 times/ Cardace 5/ Ecospirin 75/ Storvas 10/ Exercise/ Diet control. Afte 2-3 months of taking the schedule strictly fasting reduced to 105-120 which was not good enough, I have seen the doctor again, he changed the prescription to Janumet 1000/50 * 2 times//Cardace 5/ Ecospirin 75/ Storvas 10/ Exercise/ Diet control, which gave lots of benefitsm including weight loss. I was very regular in exercising. Then my sugar level dropped to 70 in the evenings (pp) and I used to feel dizzy and giddy. I stopped taking Janumet in the evenings and only took 1 doze.

The sugar level - fasting ranged 70-88, but dizzyness continued. I had seen the doctor after 1 year, he reverted me to Glycomet SR 1 gm * 2 times/ Cardace 5/ Ecospirin 75/ Storvas 10/ Exercise/ Diet control.

Benefit; Dizzyness gone and feeling better.

Problem: Fasting has increased to 88-102.

Please suggest, If I must revert to Janumet.

regards.

Hello,
A level of fasting upto 110 or even 120 is all right for a lonterm diabetic. If you feel better with your original schedule, then you must follow that. There is no point inviting hypoglycemia by achieving very tight control on blood sugar levels.Keep observing proper dietary control and do regular exercises.keep your blood pressure and lipid profile in desired range.
Thanks
