Can Internal Or External Anal Sphincters Be Damaged Or Broken Or Even A Bit Loosened, Without Having Any Symptoms ?

can internal or external anal sphincters be damaged or broken or even a bit loosened, without having any symptoms? like inability to hold gas..or something...? i mean, if a person can hold his gas and stool for as much time as he wants, could he have any loosness with internal or external sphincters that a doctor could find out about?

Hi Nadash,
If internal and external sphicter are damaged it will leads incontinance, external sphincter are voluntary sphincters which can be controlled by will, but internal sphincter are involuntary which can not be controlled voluntiarly because they are supplied by autonomic nervous system.
Take care
