Can Intake Of Diet Pill Cause Breathing Issues?

I am 21 5'4, 235. I understand I am overweight, but I have been heavier without breathing problems. I started working out and I tried a diet pill call oxyelite. I took one pill and ever since that day I have been having trouble breathing. I went to the dr and did not tell him about the pill. However, they checked my heart and said I was fine. Although he said I didn't have asthma, he gave me an enhaler. The breathing will get worst with excersize. So I stopped working out and It got better. In fact, it went away. The moment I started working out again the breathing problem resurface. I havent worked out in 4 days and it is still here. It is a tighteness in my chest and my throat feels filled. I can't complete yawn. When I was working out about three weeks ago, my heart felt tightness but that no longer occurs.

Good Morning,
I am rather concerned about you. I have read numerous tales of woe about trouble Oxyelite has claimed to have caused. I suggest that your doctor run a hepatitis panel on you, check your liver enzymes and run some cardiac function tests such as EKG, stress test, some blood work and based on his findings you may have to seek treatment for damages done by that pill. By our US law that needs to be reported and you should provide your doctor full disclosure about the pill, etc. It certainly doesn't seem like one pill would cause damage, but since it has been associated with liver failure and heart problems, I don't feel you can be too careful.

How is your sleeping? You present with tiredness during the day and problems with yawning. You need good sleep for protection of your heart. I don't know how you feel about being tested for sleep apnea, but it might help with the asthma.

And, please don't try weight loss pills to lose weight. Try lifestyle change. After you get a clearance on your heart, if you were my patient I would get you on an exercise program and a healthy meal plan and look at things from a global change perspective.

If I can help you with anything else, don't hesitate to visit again. Regards, Kathy Shattler, MS,RDN
