Can I Use Cetaphil Lotion For Yeast Infection?

Hi. I started experiencing symptoms of a minor yeast infection about a week ago and gave in to the weakness and scratched a little too much. Was swollen and super red two days ago. Now, just itchy and dry on the outside of the vagina and the vagina lips. I was wondering if I could use Cetaphil lotion to help.

Hello,
Thank you for posting your query. Fungal infections are pretty common in genital areas especially in vagina due to hormonal influence. i would advise you to take a kit containing fluconazole and secnidazole (brand name Onecan Trikit) and antifungal creams containing clotrimazole (candid-v gel) for intravaginal application daily at bedtime. For itching you can take any antihistaminic like Avil. Apart from this treatment, you try to maintain hygiene over genital areas. If you are sexually active avoid intercourse or use barrier contraceptive till resolution of condition and also consider examining your parter for any infection.
Cetaphil lotion is moisturiser and thus wont be helpful in your case.
Thank you
