Can I Take Half The Dose Of Bupropion For Anxiety?

I am on 100 mg of bupropion and was feeling a little anxious. Before taking bupropion, when I felt a little anxious my roommate would give me one of his ativan s, but a full 0.5 would make me sleepy…so I cut it down to 0.25 which worked nicely. I have started to do that with the bupropion…is that ok?

For an adult, usually Bupropion is started at the dose of 150 mg per day. It is not an 'use as needed' or 'sos' medicine. You have to take adequate dosage regularly every day for it to be effective. Below a certain dosage, it is not effective. You should take the dose as prescribed by doctor. (Ativan can be habit forming. Therefore, I would not advise my patients to use it without supervision and certainly not for longer period.)
I hope this has answered your question.
