Can I Stop To Take Rabipur If I Feel Better After 3 Doses ?

hello my daughter was bitten by our neighbor s dog.she received 3 doses of rabipur it is her schedule of 4th dose today and the dog is doing well the doctor advised to discontinue giving the vaccine we just want to be sure.should we continue or not?thank you

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

I advise you to take the complete schedule of vaccination.

This is because it becomes a sort of pre exposure prophylaxis.

Next time if there is a dog bite you need not take the complete vaccination and only post exposure prophylaxis is required.

Hello!

Thanks for the query.

It is better to complete full course vaccination .Antibody response to vaccine start developing in first seven days of vaccination.But this antibody response will not be adequate for current infection and for future protection.

If you complete rabies vaccination schedule this time,you will be protected from infection till next one year.

The protection will not be complete or assured...
Rabies is 100% fatal - there is no treatment - it can be prevented; it can not be cured...
