Can I Give 'bonnisan' To My Child For Stomach Pain And What Dosage Should Be Given?
Hi, My 1 month old baby cries of stomach pain immediately after feed and passes stools 7-8 times a day (stools are yellow in colour with white pellets like substances in the stool). I am planning to give her bonnisan for stomach releif, could you please suggest whether this is a good idea if so, what dosage should I use?
Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day
I would not recommend anything else to be given to baby till age of 6 months. As per the World health organization, children are to be exclusively breast feed till age of 6 months. No supplements, no gripe water, no Bonnisan.
Every baby is unique and so is their bowel frequency. Its quite common for babies to pass stools after every feeds. Its due to hyperactive gastro-olic reflex. Distension of stomach by feeds, will promote peristaltic activity in colon and causing evacuation of stools.
If there are no signs of dehydration, baby is accepting feeds well, no redness in anal region then there seems to be no cause for concern
