I just received my first three rabies vaccines toda after being bitten by my adopted cat. I am currently living in Nanjing China.
The Chinese doctor has told me I can not drink alcohol, coffee, tea or eat chocolate for at least one month. Is this true? Not much information was given to me at the hospital.

Hi. Welcome to HCM. First of all i will tel u that Rabies is one of the fatal and deadly disease, so don't take any chances. Many people have asked the same question on this forum. According to my knowledge there is only restriction for alcohol after rabies vaccination, the reason is it may mask the symptoms of rabies (if in case u develop which is very rare after vaccination) and alcohol is known to have a mild immunosuppresant action. With respect to tea and chocolate i don't think it has any interaction with rabies vaccine. I hope i answered your question. Wish u good health. Regards
